We have had a lot of miracles happen this week. We were
able to meet some great people. So right now I am in the YSA so we can only
teach the 18-30 year old women that don't have any kids so it can be a
challenge. But we are out trying to find them like crazy. We did meet a man
named Ken the other day and were able to help him find a need for the book of
Mormon. He is ready to make some changes in his life and he recognized a void.
As we taught him on the street about the Book of Mormon, our Savior and the
Atonement. He recognized we had a lot of good things to teach him. It was such a
great opportunity to talk to him and help him understand that God hasn't left us
alone. And that the gospel of Jesus Christ in now here in its fullest. It was
powerful to help him feel that need to feel a void.
We had a day of walking on monday. I felt like a pioneer in a small way....
cause I felt like we walked, and walked, and walked, and walked,... and walked.
We were out walking downtown and back to our apartment that is on the south end.
It took us 3 and 1/2 hours. So it was a lot of fun. But we came home and just
crashed on the couch. hehe. But at least we can say we could do it! We were
invited to teach part of achievement days yesterday so we were teaching these
8-11 year old girls about missionary work. And when they asked how many want to
go on a mission it was at least half. And I was so proud. I just wanted to be
like DO IT!!!!
We took a member Street contacting with us and she running people down right
next to our side. I LOVED IT! you could not wipe the smile off my face. hehe. It
was so hilarious. We found a lot of people and taught a lot of lessons that day.
We were really blessed. I love the seeing members excited about missionary work.
It just makes the week better! We are going to do a fireside this week on
Missionary work. Maybe someone else can catch her fire for it!
Today at Preparation day activity. We play this game called King's ball which
is pretty much ultimate dodgeball!!! And today I actually held my own. The rules
are whoever gets you out when they get out then you get to come back in. So one
person has to get everyone out. So it was down to me and another Elder. He threw
the ball and I caught it... I felt like the champion.... except he had gotten
people out so they came back in and then they ganged up on me and I was out. but
I felt pretty excited to stay in there as much as I was. It was a lot fun. You
just run around crazy. so everyone is against everyone. So I loved it! It is
good exercise to.
Wow... missionary work is the best. I hope you all have a great week. and
maybe I will hear from you soon! (thanks ash got your letter)
Love, Sister North (LOU)

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_kNRC5YNfmrE/SfD-JsZVmCI/AAAAAAAABAg/FFBwwC6-24I/s400/IMG_9446%5B1%5D.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5328037801669007394" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_kNRC5YNfmrE/SfD-JSYyrDI/AAAAAAAABAY/_JNdKH8BOhw/s400/IMG_9444%5B1%5D.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5328037794687396914" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_kNRC5YNfmrE/SfD-JP-0WdI/AAAAAAAABAQ/uSazOaK-Caw/s400/IMG_9442%5B1%5D.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5328037794041584082" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_kNRC5YNfmrE/SfD-IoQeYlI/AAAAAAAABAI/RORNRx8s96s/s400/DSCN0617%5B1%5D.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5328037783378223698" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_kNRC5YNfmrE/SfD-ITy7nEI/AAAAAAAABAA/fRvC1sE5kLo/s400/DSCN0616%5B1%5D.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5328037777885600834" />

so first picture.... we went to get thai food with the Davis' for lunch one day.
Sister Reynders doesn't like chopsticks so she we trying to pick up a spring
roll and couldn't so she eventually just stuck it with the chopsticks. It was so
funny. I love here because she is willing to try things that aren't easy for her
and doesn't worry about it.
second picture. we are in a huge coats because there was an extremely windy. and
crazy. so we whipped out our big coats but I think this was the last day. It
also rained at what not.
We were out on our balcony on a blustery day. So we were trying to catch it.
There was a rainbow behind us we were trying to get in the picture as well but
we missed... oh well still a good time.
Love ya, Lou

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_kNRC5YNfmrE/SfD-ZmjxKwI/AAAAAAAABBA/kTXfDnpDmtk/s400/IMG_9457%5B1%5D.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5328038074980051714" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_kNRC5YNfmrE/SfD-ZVbMP_I/AAAAAAAABA4/Lk-I5KKTcng/s400/IMG_9453%5B1%5D.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5328038070380675058" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_kNRC5YNfmrE/SfD-ZKbo_DI/AAAAAAAABAw/dEms4QYr5fI/s400/IMG_9450%5B1%5D.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5328038067429768242" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_kNRC5YNfmrE/SfD-Y7vSbXI/AAAAAAAABAo/kZeIQ7TL4fI/s400/IMG_9447%5B1%5D.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5328038063485644146" />

Hey everyone.
Well I am home (Regina)! And I am so glad to be back. This is one place that is dear to my heart. So I was grateful for the opportunity I didn't think I would have.
Here are some pictures of Sister Burns and my parting, but also, of Sister
Reynders and my glasses day, and some good events that have already happened.
So I have been able to rejoin with a lot of people here that I left before I didn't think that I would have that chance. So it is a great blessing. Also
though we have had a chance to find ways to help this area grow that I am excited about. Regina has a bad rap...but it is going to change. I love this area and the people, it is a lot more tracting then most area, but that
shouldn't make it worse...it should make it better. There are been some great things happening already and know there is more to come. I know that this is an important area or I wouldn't be here with sister Reynders.
I loved General Conference. And to hear those stories about Robert Gardner, Jr. It brought me great excitement to be in the family that I am and the legacy of which our ancestors have left. I am blessed to be in this family. I loved Elder Hollands' talk, he understands the Atonement more personally than I can even imagine. But he speaks of it with such depth, and love, and gratitude to give hope to those whose hands hang hopelessly down. We have encouraged a couple of the people we are teaching to listen to it. and apply it. Why would we allow ourselves to be alone if we don't have to. Or to feel healed if its possible. So I am grateful for the words he spoke and of the apostles and Presidnet Monson. I felt like those hours went way too fast! I think I am getting use to long meetings. hehe. But I felt spiritually uplifted. and so grateful becasue Heavenly Father answered my prayers through the words spoken.
I know this work is true. I am grateful for easter and for the chance that we have to celebrate the life of our Savior and know that "He Lives" and that because He lives we too will live. What a priceless gift. How often we take advantage of it! And how desperately each one of our Father's children need it. I am grateful to that we know who we are and the plan that Heavenly Father has for us.
I love you all! Linda- Malea is beautiful! I can't wait to meet here. Take care!
Thank you for the support!
Love, Sister North

<img style="display:block; WOW! What a week to say the least. Okay I don't even know where to start I guess it will start last week...
We went into Winnipeg for a Sister's Conference on Tuesday. It was such a great conference and the spirit was so strong. So many of our concerns were answered and I was so grateful for the powerful words spoken by our leaders. I felt I had a lot to apply and work on by the end which was exciting for me. When it was finished President said because it had been snowing for a day and 1/2 the roads weren't good to stick around winnipeg until we got the signal to go. We ended up staying until friday morning. We did make it back and then were in a rush for teaching and preparing for the baptism.
The Baptism was amazing everything went well. The weather cleared up so everyone could travel safely in. We got there early set up the chairs made sure the font was going. We checked the font about an hour in, and it was cold. So it had to be turned off so it would heat up again. So needless to say about a half hour before the early comers saw us filling up pots from the kitchen and taking them to the font. However, it was high and warm for them which was good because Nancy just had hip surgery in November. However, the whole baptism was a success and I am so grateful for the branch. They helped out.
Nancy called us yesterday, she told us how nervous she had been, and thanking us for the beautiful baptism with everything so perfect. She then said she had a question. She said that as she was being confirmed she felt like the hands were really heavy and her head and she was so nervous, she then had the voice say, "relax, it is all going to be okay." and she said she felt so happy after. And I was able to explain to her that was one way the spirit speaks to people, and she
said "I thought so but I just wanted to make sure." They are both amazing people. I love them very much. It was a perfect day.
Now to Transfer Calls. I had my last transfer call last night... and I am staying, jk... I am actually going to Regina. To be companions with Sister Reynders. Sister Reynders is from California she has been out 3 transfers previous to this upcoming one. She is really sweet and I am excited to go work hard there. It is an area where it is mainly tracting but things can change. I am so excited to finish my mission in Regina. Regina is like my home away from home because I started there. I have a lot of great memories in Regina, and more to come! Good thing! So I have been packing in hopes that it will all fit.... this will be good practice.
I love the gospel and the joy that it brings into the lives of those we teach. I hope that I have made as much of an impact on portage as it has made on me. It is going to be hard to leave the people here that I love. But it will be a great opportunity to return to Regina and be able to attend the temple again. Oh, how I have missed it.
I love you all. Thank you for your encouragement it really helps so much. I know that I am really blessed to have the friends and family that I do that support me through everything. I hope you all have a great week... and that you write and tell me about it. hehe.

**pictures from our road trips, and the baptism.

love you all.
love, sister north

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_kNRC5YNfmrE/Sbg6f8u71fI/AAAAAAAAA6g/9BFypgQyGWQ/s400/IMG_9274%5B1%5D.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5312060081036842482" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_kNRC5YNfmrE/Sbg6fiXQG4I/AAAAAAAAA6Y/0R1xJDfjVAE/s400/IMG_9263%5B1%5D.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5312060073958185858" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 121px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_kNRC5YNfmrE/Sbg6fk4HUFI/AAAAAAAAA6Q/mcFUffZ0t10/s400/DSCN3585.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5312060074632892498" />
Here is an update on the work:
Nancy is doing great. She was so excited a couple nights ago because she was reading in mosiah and she found the 10 commandments in chapter 13. It was so cute because she called just to tell us that! And she absolutely was thrilled to know it was there. I just laughed and talked to her about it but it is so great to have her call us and tell us what she is learning and finding in the scriptures. She is such a great person. Her baptism is on the 26th or 29th depending on Harry. Nancy called us the other day ecstatic because Harry was reading this Joseph Smith pamphlet that we gave her. And she was just amazed because Harry doesn't read very well, he is pretty much illiterate. But he was reading this pamphlet. It took him a while but he was getting through it. And she was so excited. Harry told her that she wasn't allowed to do her exercises for physio until after church so she wouldn't be too sore to come in to church. They were set on coming this past week, but they got a flat tire and couldn't come. You have to be church 3 times in order to be baptized so the Lord will help us get them here.

Love, Sister North (LOU)

Hey all,

The work is good. Our investigator Nancy just makes us laugh. She came to church on sunday and loved it. She is a great example. She loves church. And being able to attend. And people were nice and introduced themselves to her so she felt good about
everything. So we are excited for her. We are working hard trying to accomplish
miracles. Which are only possible through our loving Heavenly Father, and our
faith in our Savior. But I love the work. I love the book of Mormon so much. I love being able to hear the amazing stories and even better to apply them. It really changes life, it invites people to become better. I know that it will help anyone gain a stronger testimony of Jesus Christ, and understand his atonement and teachings so much better. because it has done that for me. I know that it is in the simple truths that our testimonies lie. And the more we are willing to share the gospel with others.

I love you all. have a great week.
Love, lou (sister North)

Pictures!

<img style="display:block; Here is a couple more pictures. So it has been so crazy here. Where to start. My knee is getting bigger and bigger. I forgot how nicely I bruise. Transfer calls were last night. I am staying in Portage with Sister Burns I guess I can't leave until I get it right or they do. hehe. However we are excited. We have seen some less actives come back. We have a baptismal date with a woman named Nancy. She is the grandmother of one of our other investigators, Pam. She has had the Book of Mormon for about a month and is through 2 Nephi. She loves the Book of Mormon and says that there is something that just keeps drawing her into it. Telling her to read. So it is exciting. Her husband is also becoming interested in what Nancy is reading. The other problem is she lives about 45 minutes away so we talk on the phone a lot. But we love her and are excited for the changes that are taking place in her life. It is amazing what the Book of Mormon can do. For Nancy it gives her peace, and makes the pain in her leg go away. I love it!!

Me and sister Burns are happy. We are a lot a alike and are trying to make things
go faster. We have seen miracles and have decided for a joint audio journal
because we love talking about things going on so much that we might as well get it on tape. hehe. I was excited to stay with her. I guess Portage is my home away from home. So things are crazy here but really good. I love the gospel and the experiences I am having out here.

I hope you have a great week.

Love ya all. and hope to hear from you soon.
Love, Sister North

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_kNRC5YNfmrE/SZOsW-FWGwI/AAAAAAAAA34/aXxP1JXr0xg/s400/2008_Saskatoon_Baptismal_Report_043.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5301770696967723778" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_kNRC5YNfmrE/SZOsIDrAFMI/AAAAAAAAA3w/pXd2lGNVjSQ/s400/IMG_9226%5B1%5D.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5301770440769803458" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_kNRC5YNfmrE/SZOsHphpmCI/AAAAAAAAA3o/lOAmhOZfR8A/s400/IMG_9224%5B1%5D.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5301770433751259170" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_kNRC5YNfmrE/SZOsHN5QeTI/AAAAAAAAA3g/G0LaICucSiQ/s400/IMG_9214%5B1%5D.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5301770426334083378" />
Hello Family.

Wow what Chaos it is here in Portage la Prairie. We had freezing rain for 2 days so everything was covered in Ice. We were on "walk down" and weren't allowed to drive our cars so we had to walk everywhere... well slide and slip everywhere. I feel like I could be a fairly okay ice skater compared to before this week. hehe. We slide everywhere! So it has been interesting for sure. Sometimes a little scary and recently a lot of puddles while the ice is melting. So it has been good. I love it here. Transfers are this upcoming tuesday and I can't even believe how fast it went.One thing after the next. I have really enjoyed being able to serve here with sister Burns (my twin in personality.) and the Smith's a senior couple here that takes care of us on so many levels. They are an amazing couple and I love them very much. I took a wonderful fall yesterday. My knee got pretty banged up however. It wasn't my favorite as far as we were on a busy street, and I probably amused many by it. hehe. However i got up quickly and resumed on our way.
We are teaching a lot of people and trying hard to help them come unto Christ and repent so that they can experience the full love of the Atonement. It is a change of life, and heart, but essentially nothing will make them happier in the long run. But I have really grown to love the people here, both members and nonmembers.
I love the work. There is nothing like missionary work and blessings it brings. I know that the gospel is true. And I am grateful for the prayers in my behalf. I feel them. I know that you are aware of me. I love you all. Thanks for all the support you have given me. It is great! I really appreciate it.

I love you all. Take care. Be safe, and hopefully spring finds you soon.

Love, Sister North

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_kNRC5YNfmrE/SWUGv_OdJ7I/AAAAAAAAAys/r_t2jiaZ5jY/s400/DSCN3278.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5288640758912198578" />

TRANSFERS

Hello Everybody.
SO transfers were a surprise. I thought I might leave. And as usual I was wrong
because I get to stay here in Portage La prairie. Wahoo. It will be so good. I love the people here a lot. I am trading 2 for 1 new companion. Her name is Sister Burns and I came out with her. SHe is so cute and fun. And I am so excited for this chance to serve with someone that I was in the MTC with. We will have a great time. I love the gospel, and the people we are teaching here. We are hoping to see some real progress in this area this transfer. The whole transfer board looks like this for the sisters.

Sister Dietrich   YSA winnipeg
Sister Henderson

Sister Wertz    YSA Saskatoon
Sister Sullivan

Me.             Portage La Prairie
SIster Burns

Sister Winchel    Kenora
Sister Price

Sister Peterson   Regina
Sister Reynders
Sister Drake

It is a complete change up but it will be good. I will miss my 2 companions they are both really good. And are good friends of mine. But we have different work to accomplish this next transfer. I am excited. I am so grateful for the support I feel from all of you. I love you so much. And know that I am where I am suppose to be.
This week has been good. we had a member fireside where taught the members. There was a really great turn out that we were so excited about. Now if they apply what was taught this area can improve and be united. I really love how much the gospel is able to make things right in peoples lives through the Atonement of our Savior. I am so grateful for that. I love you all. Have a great New Years and I will hopefully hear from you soon.... missionaries do love mail.. even if it gets here slow.
It still gets here. hehe.
Love, SIster North

Happy Thanksgiving!

Hello Family.
Happy Thanksgiving. I will be excited to hear that it is celebrated because here that holiday is far past gone. I am so grateful for all of you. There is so much that the Lord has blessed me and Sister Henderson with. We know that it is such a blessing to be a part of the Lord's work. We met a girl 2 sundays ago and met with a woman named Pam. She has 2 little kids and we went to go talk to her on the street. The great thing was that when we met with her she had a chance to really listen to what we were saying she has a baptismal date for Dec. 20. We are so excited for it. I know that it will be a great experience for her. She is sweet! She has had a lot of hard things but I know that this will do wonders for her family. we have met a lot of others this week that we are excited about. We got our transfer calls last night. And.... I am staying here to see the work progress. I will be staying with sister Henderson who is one of my best friends and also getting Sister Sullivan back. So we will be in a 3 here in portage. We will be able to accomplish so much. And I know that it will bless this area to have 3 of us accomplishing everything. I love the gospel. I love that Heavenly Father knows our needs and gives us according to them. I love the members here. And the ones that are soon to be one. It has been an amazing week. We have seen one miracle after the next. I think the Lord is someone who is so kind and loving and that we really are suppose to find joy here. It should be a great transfer. We are excited that SIster Sullivan is coming to serve here. Yesterday we went to a less-actives house and we did some service. Well, it was hilarious because as we were leaving her dog bolted out the door. So we have the 3 of us trying to catch this reindeer of a dog, it took us probably 5 minutes running after this dog until we got it. We were laughing pretty hard because it was so fast. And she got tricked by sister Henderson. She was pretty grateful
though. We also did service for another lady who typically we knock and walk in. Well we had set up this time to do service. So we knocked walked in and she was asleep. Well we promised we would help her so we did her dishes and swept the floor and cleaned off this table. She slept the whole time... talk about secret service hehe. The phone even rang but still to no prevail did she wake up so we left a scripture on her table and left not even saying one word to her. hehe. It was great because this member has been pretty sick so it was probably good for her. We are teaching a lady from Sao Paulo brazil English. She is so sweet. We are teaching her what things are, Pronunciation, sentences, and everything else imaginable. But she really opened up to us, and even though there is a language barrier we understand each other and feel her appreciation to us for our help just humbled me so much to think how wonderful she really is and how much we can be angels in others lives by the actions we do. I loved it. So at this time of year I am grateful for the countries we live in, the gospel that has blessed our family, the scriptures and living prophet we have so we can find answers to our questions, and the chance I have to be in the service of our loving Father in Heaven. I love you all. take care of yourselves! And I will write again soon!
Love, Sister North

Hey Fam!
I just have a minute but I wanted to say that I love you all! We had a week of
service I don't think that I have done more service in a week than I have this week. But it was great. Lots of dishes, shoveling dirt, raking leaves, and unpacking boxes. But it has been a great week. I love service, and wow the work you can get done when you have many hands. I even put bags of leaves around a house for insulation. Its been great. I love the members.

I get to give a talk this week... and well I am the only speaker so I get the whole meeting to talk. This should be interesting. Also, we got cell phones this week so we can talk while we are out. It is pretty exciting and changes things up a bit. Nice to have though when we went out about a half hour out of portage looking for a house. So definitely a blessing. It has been good though. I love the work and the people. It is amazing the chance we have to teach and testify of our Savior. I did dress up for halloween we had to be in at 5:00 for the rest of the night. But I had 2 costumes... a cowgirl which was nice... but also I was a thief in the night in all black both great costumes. We had fun and ate pudding. How much better does it get? I don't know! IT was great!

I love you all and hope you have a great week! Can't wait to see pictures of all the great times back home!
Love you! So wow... there is a lot going on. Transfer calls were last night, and well I am moving! I am heading to a place called Portage la Prairie which is about 45 minutes away from Winnipeg. It is outlining so we won't be with that many other missionaries. My new Companions is sister Henderson. She has been out 2 transfers, and I am excited to go work hard with her. She is sweet. I took her out her first day in the mission field back when I was in Winnipeg. So I am excited to serve with her again. Sister Sullivan is also leaving heading to a place called Kenora. Which she will love! Because there are more hills, water, and trees. Surroundings that she is more familiar to, and a small town. We are sad to be leaving each other but excited to see what outlining is like. We have had a good transfer together, and I love her a lot. I will miss the good times.
So we can only have 2 suitcases and 1 carryon bag. and well.... I have a little more than that, so I am considering wearing half my clothes. We were practicing today and hehe... I think I put 18 articles of clothing on. I had shorts, 2 pairs sweatpants, 4 skirts, 3 tank tops, 3 shirts, a t-shirt, a light sweater, a sweater vest, a sweater, and 2 blazers. hehe. I looked like a marshmallow, and felt like one too. it was pretty funny were were laughing about it. but we are doing everything so that I can fit everything in my suitcases and make it to where we are going. hehe. So it is completely entertaining. hehe.
We have had a good week, and have been working really hard. I love the work we get to do and to really be able to get to know these people we teach. I love them so much. we had to say goodbye to Stephanie today and it broke my heart. The people we teach out here become a part of us. And I know that without them the work would be harder, but teaching amazing people makes the work not so hard. It is really is a blessing. I love it.
I hope you all have a wonderful week. I am grateful for all of you, and the chance I have to get to keep in touch. I am blessed so much, to have the family that I have. Happy Holidays! I will talk to you soon....
Love you all.

Love, sister north

ps... the pictures are me as a marshmallow, and the other is us with stephanie
today.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_kNRC5YNfmrE/SPZDyvIrW9I/AAAAAAAAAkY/Zmu2Bm9V01c/s400/IMG_8595%5B1%5D%5B1%5D.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5257464153927015378" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_kNRC5YNfmrE/SPZDzaP4-OI/AAAAAAAAAkg/eI8bKc9JHBQ/s400/IMG_8599%5B1%5D%5B1%5D.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5257464165499992290" />

From the Birthday Girl

HELLO EVERYONE.
My birthday was SO GREAT! tHANK YOU for all the letters and emails... some of which I haven't gotten. It is going to be amazing. How many times can you say "come listen to a prophets voice..." well twice a year for sure. But what an amazing opportunity. It is so important to learn as much as possible. Stephanie (our investigator) will be coming. All she needs is a big enough confirmation that the church is true and I know she will be able to quit all the habits. I know she will come along. She is doing good. And we had a really good lesson with her. We Love her so much and really just want her to be happy.

We got to go to the Relief Society Broadcast. We had to go to the dinner they were having late. And the men who were helping with dinner helped us get everything we needed to be completely stuffed. There are some really great members here in Canada that I love a lot. The interesting part, is how grateful I was to see these familiar faces from the family ward and just remember great memories past. We were fed well physically, and then we went to get spiritually fed. Which was amazing. I LOVED ALL THE SPEAKERS at that broadcast. Each one was powerful, and stephanie didn't go so we went to her house later and talked about them, then she told us that she went onto the website to look them up, and listened to 2 or 3 of the 4 of them wow! I loved it! It was a great chance for her to listen to them.

Love,
Sister North

Hello Everyone.

This week has been an amazing week. We have had 12 lunch/dinner appointments in a week. We are rather full. We had some amazing lessons with our investigator Stephanie! And I know that we were blessed.

So last night though, was transfer call night. We had to be in at 8:30, so we invited the Davis', a senior couple, to come over and play phase 10 as we were in our apartment. They did, and as we waited for our call the phone probably rang 20 times before our call actually did because everyone wanted to know what we were doing. and we would yell, "we haven't got our call yet...bye" and hang up. However, it was a lot of fun. I didn't get the call until about 10:20. And the news is....Sister Ferguson is being transferred back to the states, she is going home. I will miss her greatly because I love her a lot. And I am training a greenie named Sister Sullivan in Regina. I am excited to meet her. I will go in to Winnipeg with Sister Ferguson for our last road trip for a while, and have a transfer meeting tomorrow. I am excited to get a chance to share what I have learned with someone who is willing to learn. It will be a great opportunity to learn, I am quite nervous, and excited at the same time.

Yesterday we set a baptismal date for Stephanie for September 20th. So it is coming up. She is scared to death so pray that she will find confidence within herself. But she knows it is true, and now it is time for her to use her faith and Act. It was such a great experience to be able to see how the members have loved her and invited her. They are a great support and help. Sister Ferguson has already planned that she is getting on face book to stay in touch. hehe. I am doing really great. I love Regina. And this weekend is Stake Conference...wahoo! It should be really great. I love you all. So we met this girl named Stephanie this week. She is the light of our lives. The first day we met her we got to know her and invited her to church. She accepted. We got to see her saturday as well. It was so good. She has such amazing interest levels. We gave her a pamphlet that she read and had questions about so when we taught the next lesson she already knew what we were going to say. It was so great. She asks a lot of questions and has a great love for her family. It is so fun. We had a great chance to address her concerns and discuss a lot of the commandments and a variety of topics. And to our astonishment she is already living most of them. She is doing great. She loved church. The members loved her. and she asked if they would be there next week. hehe. The meetings on sunday were amazing! I love it! She is really great! So I really love teaching the gospel. and those that listen to it. An amazing story this week.
We had a great prank we pulled on the Elders this week. We snuck over there, and we put a bunch of alarm clocks hidden in their apartments. We love good pranks... so we went during lunch, and they had meetings. well they with dumb luck found one of the alarm clocks and new a prank was being pulled. There was 4 altogether but only 2 worked because the found the other 2. But it was a good prank. And made our lunch a lot more entertaining.I have to be off. But I love you all and hope all is well with you. Pictures will probably come later of our adventures. love you all.
Love, Sister North

The Latest

So it's been another crazy week. It started out really interesting, We have these neighbors below us that started having a full blown screaming match. It got to the point that we thought violence was involved and called the RCMP. (cops.) and they came and so did an ambulence, but because we are very nosy neighbors we saw the gentlemen leave with a hurt hand we think, and the girl was walking and doing things, so overall, we haven't heard any fighting since so we really don't know what happened so we were a little flustered by it. and our air conditioner just barely broke hehe. So it is getting warmer and warmer in our apartment and outside isn't so cool anymore. So we are pretty warm.
The best part of our week was getting to have Zone Conference for a number of reasons. We first, got to see our Mission President and his Wife. I love them. And they really help set an amazing tone for our meeting. Second, we had a general authority come speak to us named Spencer V. Jones from the quorum of the seventies. He was amazing. He felt the love and the spirit radiate and he got to know us and as he taught. His Wife was with him, and she is a fiery thing. Sister Morgan talked about improving our prayers, and told a great story of a convert in Phillipines and how he learned to pray. President Morgan talked about appreciated the things around us even the flowers, the moon, and all the great things there are. (we were asked to go buy flowers for zone conference they were beautiful fuscia gerber daisies and yellow lillies and little white and lavender flowers.. they were nice). Sister Jones talked about trials and overcoming them to "Buck UP" and face them with strength. It was great. I sang "How Great Thou Art" with sister Ferguson, Elder Tieken, and Elder Davis... with Elder Goettel accompanying. It was really nice. but I was so scared. However, the spirit was really strong. Then Elder Jones spoke about how we learn, the bigger plan of why we are missionaries.. to Baptize and Retain so they can reach Exaltation, and how to commit people effectively. Every time he taught it was powerful. The time went so fast, and when it was done, I was sad, I longed for more. But it was a great meeting, and I learned a lot.
Overall things here in Regina are good. We are still trying to find those that are ready but we are learning a lot and really coming to enjoy the things here in Regina. The other missionaries from Saskatoon, came down for the conference. It was really fun to have sister peterson and sister Dietrich stay with us. We laughed about funny memories, caught up on everything we missed, and really just loved being together. It was short lived, but great to have them here.
I love you all, thanks for the support. I hope all is well and that you are
happy and healthy. I know that the gospel is true, and really brings us the
greatest happiness and peace when we live it. I know that everything we do is based on the beautiful principle of Faith, and that our true goal should be to have the
vision of returning back to our Loving Heavenly Father. I will talk to you soon.
Love you tons.
Love, Sister North
In the far from frozen North

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_kNRC5YNfmrE/SK2BpgTbLlI/AAAAAAAAAhQ/t3TKJtiltOA/s400/IMG_1211%5B1%5D%5B1%5D.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5236984491747782226" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_kNRC5YNfmrE/SK2BpzN-45I/AAAAAAAAAhY/6C6PD6orNhQ/s400/IMG_1452%5B1%5D%5B1%5D.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5236984496825230226" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_kNRC5YNfmrE/SK2BqUf4BUI/AAAAAAAAAhg/rvyQXxZ6P1o/s400/IMG_1473%5B1%5D%5B1%5D.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5236984505758647618" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_kNRC5YNfmrE/SK2Bqs58dOI/AAAAAAAAAho/WSYKJk_xlC0/s400/IMG_1515%5B1%5D%5B1%5D.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5236984512310441186" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_kNRC5YNfmrE/SK2Bq-81fgI/AAAAAAAAAhw/bwIpVRo8qsY/s400/IMG_1739%5B1%5D%5B1%5D.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5236984517154405890" />

Hey Everyone

Hey.
I am back in Regina Wahoo! I really am loving it here and everything, everyone about it. We have been so blessed this week. We moved into a new apartment both of us, and it had absolutely no food, so we were wondering what we were going to do, and well, the Lord provides because we went to see a couple of people and they gave us food, and then the Elders called and said that where the sisters were before there weren't going to be missionaries there and to come get all the food out of the apartment. So our needs were provided for. It was a good adventure for both of us. My mattress wasn't my favorite and so as were going to get the stuff from the other apartment we shoved a mattress folded up in our car, and got it to the other apartment and switched for the other mattress. Now I sleep great. We felt like we were on a special mission to get all this food, and other things we found we needed from the apartment. I am driving now, it is pretty fun, we have a really nice Malibu we drive that has quite the accelerator. It has been such a great week, full of meeting new people through street contacting, tracting, and we even were fed by a member today. What a blessing. and it was great. I love it here. I am doing well. Healthy and Happy. Thank you for all your prayers, I know I am being taken care of. The gospel is true, it really can bring us the greatest happiness. I hope we all can strive a little harder, to be a little better and to measure up to our potential. We truly have great things to acccomplish for ourselves and also for those around us that need our help. I love what I am doing. I love you all. Thank you for your many prayers, I know they are heard.

Love, Sister North

Can We Say Transfers....

Hello everyone....
Last night was transfer call night and we had the chance to talk to President Morgan and here where are next assignment is. And so he called I am....GOING TO REGINA. Wahoo. I am heading back to Regina but to go to the YSA (young single adult) ward to be with my legendary companion Sister Ferguson. Which is really exciting, because she was my trainer and now I get to kill her off (or be her last companion before she goes home). I am really excited to get a chance to be somewhere new with someone I love. I will be driving this transfer it has been a while since I have driven so it should be fun. hehe. Fortunately, Regina isn't quite as chaotic as Winnipeg. But to make things even better, there is a brand new sister coming out this transfer, and Sister jenkins my companion is training for the third time...impressive, but because she can't meet her till tomorrow I am taking the new sister out with me tracting or whatever we choose to do. So I have been entrusted to be her first comp in the field, well, temporary companion. So we are going to have a lot of fun tonight getting to work. It has been so great to be back in Winnipeg and see the people I love.

So monday we had FHE and we were making cardboard cars and painting them and different things. We decided to put ours together and make a police motorcycle with a side car since we needed to make one big enough for three. It was a great time... I was trying to get out of it but I ended up falling down and getting stuck in it...
it was really funny I did make it out but we laughed forever about it. So yesterday was amazing because it we worked so hard we ended up teach 7 lessons finding 2 new investigators, and setting a baptismal commitment. Winnipeg is picking up, Sister capps is lucky she is staying I love it here, but am excited to be with Sister Ferguson and back to the temple. We met a girl named Kashus who was really struggling with things in her life, we met her monday and then we went to see her Tuesday as we talked she got all emotional and said that she was praying for something to happen in her life and that we were an answer to her prayer. Also, Kim is getting baptized soon which is so great. There are so many blessings happening here in winnipeg. So now I am off to Regina to hopefully work for the same success. I really love being back out. I feel like I am happier than I have ever been, and that even when things are hard I am just happy to be back. It is amazing the joy that comes through service to our Heavenly Father. I love it. I really have a testimony that it is in the small and simple things that we really learn who we are and how to find the greatest amount of happiness. I love you all and hope that you are all doing well. thank you for your love and support.

love, sister north

Once more from Winnipeg

I am now back in Winnipeg. Wow what a weather difference. It is pretty rainy here which makes it humid which actually isn't that bad when the wind hits. I am loving the weather here because it is still cooled off. We have a baptism coming up July 26th, so we are getting ready for that, and it has been great to see the members and missionaries again. It is good to be back to what I know and what I am suppose to be doing. I really love the mission field. Especially in the canada winnipeg mission. We had members bring us buns last night (rolls). and just people are great here. It was great being home and seeing people I love and catching up, but it is equally as great to be back to the service. I am ready to go. I am really loving the mali.... and it is great to be back in another 3. Some things never change which is no problem to me. I am with sister capps (my old companion from oregon.) and sister jenkins and she is from wales.. I haven't ever served with her, so I am excited to. They are really great and were actually MTC companions. So the work is going well here. We are going to have a good time this weekend because there is a couple of ward activities and a baptism that we get to go to. So I am excited to be with the ward again and hopefully make an influence for good here. I hope everything is going well for all you...I love you, keep me updated on the good things going on in your
families and just remember the mission office has changed to:

845 Shaftesbury Boulevard
Winnipeg, MB R3P 0M5

I love the chance I have to go and serve the Lord. First, for those that don't know, and for those who haven't heard much. I am currently serving in the St. George Mission with my mom as my companion. I got sick while I was serving where I would get bad abdominal pain. So I got sent home. I had gallbladder surgery and am on the recovery. Which is good. I will be going back in a couple of weeks probably somewhere around the 7th of July. So it has been crazy to be home, I am missing winnipeg but fortunately I get to go back when everything is good again. I have been out 8 months, so still have plenty of time to enjoy the rest of my mission. I am still learning a lot here, different from a mission, but I think patience and relying on my Father in Heaven knowing that he is aware of me. I didn't think I would learn it this way but we don't always expect the things that happen to us most of the time. I have had a chance to talk to some of my recent converts and also to some of the investigators I taught and it has been good to encourage them and just to hear of the great things they are accomplishing. So that has been really neat. I am doing good, but still am excited to go back. It has been so wonderful to see friends and family and feel of the great support that I have. It really is encouraging to me to feel like I have such great people cheering me on. Second, my mission address is changing as of June 16.

The new mission office address will be:

845 Shaftesbury Boulevard
Winnipeg, MB R3P 0M5
Canada

What the mission office says about letters that go to the old one:
We will be setting up a forwarding service so that any post you have already sent which may currently be in transit will be forwarded to the new address when we have moved. This will be in effect for approximately 6 months, so hopefully no post will be lost.

So that is kind of crazy, just so you know. I just want you to know that I love the gospel it is something that really brings me the most joy. I love canada and am excited to go back to my mission this I think just makes me appreciate that much more the time that I get to spend serving my Father in Heaven. I just hope that I have been the instrument he has expected of me. I love my Savior, I truly know that by ourselves it would be impossible to really accomplish or have what we hope for. Especially eternal life and exaltation with our families. What an amazing blessing it is know these truths. And that we can know it through a prophet of God. I love President Monson and his sincerity, and humility in this new calling of his. I love you all. Thank you for the support.

Love, Sister North

Here are some more pics:

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_kNRC5YNfmrE/SFlgFni3BfI/AAAAAAAAAeg/ynjWhWkF6Z4/s400/IMG_1063.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5213303693288867314" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_kNRC5YNfmrE/SFlfoIEGCLI/AAAAAAAAAd4/pajX_LSDcPA/s400/IMG_1028.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5213303186622122162" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_kNRC5YNfmrE/SFlfovxw3GI/AAAAAAAAAeA/FJhT_gKxw1g/s400/IMG_1003.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5213303197282655330" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_kNRC5YNfmrE/SFlfo0Wf5_I/AAAAAAAAAeI/v87huPb_vxc/s400/IMG_1015%5B1%5D.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5213303198510475250" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_kNRC5YNfmrE/SFlfpRYEODI/AAAAAAAAAeQ/Mwx5NrmPfRc/s400/IMG_1031.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5213303206301677618" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_kNRC5YNfmrE/SFlfp6t6CJI/AAAAAAAAAeY/XrnucAh2YbY/s400/IMG_1041%5B1%5D.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5213303217399138450" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_kNRC5YNfmrE/SFleQN5M8ZI/AAAAAAAAAdw/dYhaf8f7i9w/s400/IMG_1090.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5213301676358562194" />

From the Field

Hello!
This week has been a great week for a couple of reasons. I am currently still in Winnipeg, and love it. The weather is getting beautiful I think this morning on my alarm clock (thanks ash) it said it was 22 which is about 71 degrees. So beautiful. We played sand volleyball which made me happy and I am really grateful for all the parks here in canada they are amazing!

This past weekend was Stake Conference. And it was so great! The stake presidency talked about the 3 fold mission of the church and there steps of getting every family to participate in them. It really was great the revelation and insights that
they had. They want to increase the member finding and missionary teaching of Elder Bednar and gave everyone really great ideas of how they personally can accomplish it. And the pattern we need to establish in our lives, and the steps towards family history and temple attendance. I really respect the leaders in this area. They are really great. So we heard from everyone in the stake saturday night because on sunday it was a broadcast. The broadcast was all of the canadian stakes and the speakers were President Monson, Sister Dibbs, Elder Steven Snow, and Elder Ballard. And each of their experiences of service in Canada. And their love for Canada. It was really great though. I learned a lot even though the night before was a huge thunder storm, lightning storm, which blew their antenna or something so we missed the first part of it, but it ended well. It was great to hear the love they had of their experiences here in Canada and how part of them will always have special place in their hearts. It was really a great opportunity. We had some investigators there, who wanted to hear the prophet speak, but we could only get audio and it wasn't that loud, so they heard it but it was quiet and no visual so I was trying to take copious notes to pay attention.

One of our Investigators Yuki is going back to China, many of the university students do because they are originally from China so they go home for the summer. She will be back in like 3 months. But it seems so long.

There is a single sister who was a service missionary who has currently been released. She has some health problems but we usually go over there to do different service things and share a message. She has 3 bookcases full of books, and it is interesting because she doesn't even remember how many she has. so we have been trying to organize them in some sort of order. So she fed us last night and we are working on finshing we have one more shelf of keep and throw away decisions but we still have to get those cabinets organized most are church, but she has so many books. It has been good to do some service, it is hard to do here, because we don't really have to many options so it is great to serve, because she really needs all the help she can get with her home.

Winnipeg is beautiful, I really love it, and the memebers, and the people. We are learning a lot this transfer and hopefully will apply it. hehe. We see interesting people every day. The other day I saw a gentleman walking across the street, and he decided to stop about 6 feet (kind of in the middle of the farthest lane) on the street to check his watch, well cars were coming and so he checked it and kept walking. We were laughing because I would personally never do something like that, but to this gentleman it was perfectly normal. How great. Also there was a gentleman the other day wearing a pink turban. So everything you wouldn't think you would see people do, is done here. It is great. I love it!

I love you all. I hope all is well, and that everything goes great this week for you. I love being able to serve the Lord, and am grateful for the gospel, without it we would still be in our own personal apostasies. I love getting to teach and to testify, and help these people understand the worth that they have to there heavenly father, and the happiness they can find through living the principles of the gospel.

I love you! Have a great week!
Love, Lou (sister North)

News from the North

Hello everyone!
Reports from The Windy city of Winnipeg. So the weather has become something beautiful! Today at our activity I was getting pretty warm. What a grand change. The Baptisms were amazing the spirit was so strong! Heather and Colleen looked beautiful in white and I really know that they were making amazing choices in their lives. I love them so much, and really can see them becoming strong members of the church. So last night was fun because as I called in to the District Leader, Sister Ferguson and sister capps got into a water fight next thing I knew I was covered in water as well, I think Elder Cutright was a little confused but to say the least we were wet but happy. I love the people here in canada so much. We really have some amazing members, right now we are working on building the area after the 2 baptisms and really its a lot of work, but its worth doing. Sister Ferguson and I sometimes beat up on each other as far as tackling when one isn't paying attention, its good exercise. hehe. I am learning a lot, and really trying to learn everything I possibly can. The other day in my studies I was learning about personal apostasy and it was such an interesting topic because well, even when we are slacking on the basic things of reading our scriptures, saying meaningful prayers, and going to church, we are having our own mini apostasies. It is so important to stand firm in all things. I love the gospel and how it really changes peoples lives for the better. Yesterday we talked to this guy on the street, and he was like sure lets talk religion. He was really smart and as we talked his desire to learn and to read from the book of mormon grew because, The book of Mormon answers the questions of the soul, so now he is coming to a pot luck and will start investigating the church and who knew if we wouldn't have talked to him what would have happened. There are
people all around who are ready, which is a crazy thought. But we do meet some crazy people on the street, who you just wonder what in the world they are thinking, but it is good fun. You just laugh. Such as meeting Elijah the Prophet who told us the New Jerusalem is right here in Winnipeg, who knew? And that they world is going to tilt to the 23 parallel so that those here in Winnipeg will have the best view, and the best weather... good thing I came here... whew! I love you all. Thank you for all of your support. I am lucky to have the amazing friends and family that I do. Take care!
Love, Sister North ( from the not so frozen north now)

Pictures from Zone Conference

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_kNRC5YNfmrE/SBCv_E8CJVI/AAAAAAAAAcg/FpdrjdDd7w8/s400/DSCN2385%5B1%5D.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5192843868550341970" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_kNRC5YNfmrE/SBCv_k8CJWI/AAAAAAAAAco/eGZXBSBwNCk/s400/DSCN2381%5B1%5D.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5192843877140276578" />

It was warming up here, the cold part is the wind. whew. The weather is getting much nicer, but the other days its was 70 kmh so we felt like we would get blown away but it just adds a little more fun. I am in a Young Single Adult ward so I am working with people that are my own age which is pretty funny. Very different from a family ward but is good because I can relate on different levels. My companions are sister Allan and Sister Capps. Sister Allan is obviously my fellow st. georgian and I found out that yes we do have accents. words such as field, idea, feel and fill. Supposedly we say it different but at least we can both pronounce it wrong together. hehe. I love it here! There are some amazing people. We have 3 baptismal dates for May 3. Heather- who is so good, and so excited about her baptism. her family is thrilled but I have never seen anyone so aglow when it comes to the church. Colleen- who was paegan and now has a great testimony of God and his love for her. She even took out all her ear piercings but one to be obedient right after we talked to her about it. and Yuki- who is Chinese and never knew of God before and last time we taught her she said she can just feel it even though she can't always understand what is being taught at church. They are amazing. I love you all. Thank you for your support. I know that this is where I am suppose to be and that teaching the gospel really brings me the most joy! I know that living the gospel will make us happier than anything else we can do! It changes our lives for the better. and we really can
be purified by the Atonement of our Savior Jesus Chirst. I love you all. Take
care. And I hope to hear from you soon.

Love, Sister North (up in the warming frozen north)

Lindsey and her newest companions.

<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_kNRC5YNfmrE/SATH8cuxVGI/AAAAAAAAAbo/dBNW1Z27QL8/s400/lou.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5189492511956096098" />

Winnipeg

My area is now in winnipeg! I work in the YSA with all the young people so basically their college ward. My companions are Sister Allan from St. George, UT.(She is practically family) and Sister Capps who is from Portland, Oregon. They are both hilarious and they are hard workers. The weather has actually been quite cold the past few days. It had started to warm up and now it is freezing again. But I got to give it to these two sisters they are working out champs! The city is huge~ and there are so many people from so many nationalities. President Morgan lives here, and I have seen him twice this transfer so I think it will be nice to be serving around them. We won't seem them a lot, but occassionally so that is nice. The senior couples are the Heltons, work in the office, and the Hansons, who are city builders. Winnipeg is a lot different from Regina but it is fun.
So we as a companionship are playing the biggest losers with ourselves because i want to be healthier again, sister allan will be going home, and sister capps just wants to be healthy too. So it is going to be fun. So Linda... how did you figure out percentages? Lets see... We have set some stretching goals so we will be working hard which is good. I am going to be learning a lot. I am really happy and feel like things happen for a reason. So I was the only sister traveling into Winnipeg so they let me travel with two of the Zone Leaders. But before I left I said goodbye to some of my favorite people in Regina. One being Myles, who gave me a porcelein angel...it is very pretty. He really has a big heart. I love this area already, it will be a change from the family ward but there are great people here. I love the gospel it is true no matter where I serve, but I know that my morning studies are going to be more effective here so every transfer you learn something new. And I am excited to
see what I get to learn this time. I love you all. Thank you for your support. I
am excited to be here in Winnipeg so send any mail to the mission office.

First Transfer

This is all we received today:

Sister North wanted us to email you and let you know that she has been transferred to Winnipeg. So we had committed Myles about 1 1/2 weeks before his actual day. All he said was, Well i guess the sooner the better. So March 1st was set. Everything we taught him after that he accepted. We had a lesson on the priesthood and he had a blessing by President Quinton because we were at there home doing a Family home Evening, and the spirit was so strong, it ended in two grown men crying. Things were amazing. We just were trying to meet with him as much as possible and help in anyways that we could. So as we taught him, one night we told our member no worries because we are just going to watch the Restoration and answer any questions he has. So we get there, and his dad and brother are just leaving and we go up to teach him. Well we walk in and he is acting really weird. We sit down and he just starts shooting off really weird questions. So we are like, lets open with prayer. What his dad and brother had been doing was sharing lots of anti-mormon literature was him. and wow, it wasn't the lesson we expected at all. Myles has had a rough life anyways, and to have this pushed on him was really hard for him. We told him not to trust it and that we personally wouldn't trust anything that wasn't from LDS.org. and he did something i didn't expect him to do, he said, "so you are telling me these are lies" and we said we didn't know what was on them but we wouldn't trust it, and then he threw the papers behind him on the floor. It was reassuring that he still had faith in what we were teaching. We talked with him for a while, and then asked if he was still planning on saturday and he said, I will have to get back to you, we set an appt for friday and left with a prayer. Our member helped bear her testimony we apologized for the rough lesson. Well we started a fast that night, we were really worried. (oh yah sis D. stole the literature and we ripped it up when we got home). So the next day we went over there he said that his dad had called 3 times trying to see what his decision was. We showed him part of Special Witnesses of the apostles testifying of the all different principles. we added our testimonies, and the first question he asked that night was. What did you do with the papers? we told him and asked if he wanted them back he commented no. He then asked why would we want him to be a member of our church. Sister Ferguson said because we love you, and he said what? everybody who tells me that has backstabbed me. And I shared that it was a commandment to love, love the Lord, love they neighbor. He was quiet, and he said, I am going to trust you now, but so help me if you have told me wrong, You should know I haven't trusted anyone in 2 years. And he said I guess I will do it, tomorrow at 3:00 then. It was music to my ears. hehe. however he wasn't perfectly okay, but he was going to do it. He just said I am going to make a lot of people mad. And so Saturday we made the appropriate arrangements and we got ready for it. We called just to see how he was doing, and he said he had already had 4 calls that morning trying to tell him to back out. He finally showed up at the church and we asked if he had any questions, he just said "yah, but I asked them all this morning, i have been praying the whole time." So we took pictures, and waited for everyone to arrive. President and Sister Morgan were there, and so was every missionary in Regina. Plus a great turn out from the ward. Also his mom and dad were there, and his daughter and her husband. The service was amazing. The spirit was so strong, between President Quinton talking having a musical number and having the baptism take place. It was amazing. We then stood up to talk while he was changing. and as we taught the restoration of the gospel, me and his mom locked eyes and she sat there and nodded as I talked about families. She agreed pretty well with everything we said. and when the service was over she came up and gave all 3 of us a big hug and said, "I am glad he met such nice people as you." It was amazing. She was one of them that had called that morning discouraging Myles. I know the spirit touches hearts, and that it really can change lives. Its not us as missionaries. As I bore my testimony when Myles came back my eyes filled up with tears and all I could think was, How great shall be your Joy. And it was. It was an amazing day. He was confirmed the next day and I saw his countenance change, he just seemed....softer. As we talked about the baptism he said he was grateful for how it went, and that his daughter who doesn't believe in God was actually asking questions, and he was excited to just be there to answer them.
He is going to be an example to his family, and I know that he will be a great asset in the Kingdom of our Father because he has great faith. And I know that he fits in well. I know that I was blessed to be a part of this opportunity, and that I really am grateful to see how gospel changes lives for the better, and we are just small instruments in the hands of our Father in Heaven.

Thank you all for what you do for me. I am truly blessed to be so supported. There are some out here that aren't supported at all. One is from Tonga, and I admire him greatly, his family disowned him when he came out because they didn't want him to go on a mission. He came and didn't hear from them for the first 10-11 months of his mission, and he got a letter from his family for Christmas which brought a huge smile to his face. And I was blessed on many sides of getting to hear from everybody as much as I do, and that I did feel support from my family. I love you all. Take care, and know that we are very blessed.

Love, Sister North

WaHOOO!

Well hello everyone. I love you all so much thank you for all your wonderful
support. well as I said to some of you good news....

MYLES IS GETTING BAPTIZED MARCH 1ST. YAH!!!! I am so excited for him. He really has changed a ton! When we first met him he wasn't the most friendly of characters, and now he is one of the happiest things I have found. He has one of the best hearts and a hard life. But I am so happy for him. He saw the bishop the other day, and he actually told him that the missionaries just came at the right time, and that he was genuinely happier than he has been in a long time. He is great. So there is no greater joy than that... read Alma 26 or D&C 18 just about how exquisite the joy is in bringing the gospel to someones life. So thank you all for praying that someones heart would be softened and that they would have a desire to be baptized. So it will be a great day! Start the month of march off right!

The work is progressing and it is going to be a very happy day. We also have a couple other investigators who are moving nicely. wahoo! I love the gospel. And I love having Sister Dietrich here with us. So I have been learning german, I can count from one to ten. It is an accomplishment, and she really has amazing study
insights that I love to hear. So the more the merrier I guess. Well sort of.. it
started out rough but has gotten so good. AND tomorrow is Zone Conference so it is going to be so nice to have that chance to hear from President Morgan, the assistants, zone leaders, and district leaders. but honestly one of my favorite parts is the testimony meeting...wow... the spirit just soars through that meeting. I love the gospel. And I am so happy here. The members are starting to see the vision and actually giving us referrals, we get fed well...and I really feel loved. I am excited for the chance I have to serve. What a blessing. Sometime I think what blinders I must have on compared to the Lord, because I see such a small part of the picture. I often think of the potential we as missionaries have to become better, but also the potential our Father in Heaven must see in our investigators. I am always so impressed by those who make such a concentrated effort to find the Lord and act upon the truth when the recognize it. Myles has had to overcome smoking, coffee, drinking, and eating meat sparingly. But every commitment we leave with him he accepts whether it is hard or not, he has complete trust that we will teach him correctly so the things we ask him to do he does. And I wonder if I would have done what they do. We asked him to write down his 10 favorite things we have taught him, so in essence his testimony. I am excited to hear it. and even after hearing all the commandments he has to live by... all he said was, "thats not too bad". wow. I am humbled by his sincerity, and faith to act on some of these commandments he doesn't understand. Maybe, someday I can show that great faith in something too. Well, I just wanted to tell you the good news. and I will be sure to send pictures home, because it is going to be a special day. Oh yah, we had FHE with Myles at a
Members home and we talked about the priesthood. We talked about some of the
different responsibilities of holding it, I think he is excited to be able to be a part of it. It was such an amazing lesson, and I know that he felt the wonderful spirit that comes from being in a members home, and having that priesthood authority. It was a very good week, and the best is yet to come.

I love you. Thank you for your support and love. I miss you, but know that I am happy and I always tell stories from home. Have a great week. And maybe look for
an opportunity to tell one simple fact about our church to someone who isn't a member so that they are actually getting true information.

Love, Sister North

An additional companion

Preface: Lindsey is still in Regina and last week for transfers Lindsey and Sister Ferguson had another sister join them.

Okay... figured I could talk to everyone at once... So yes I have a new German
companion named sister dietrich (d-trish is what it sounds like). She is really
funny, and can speak english exceptionally well. She is a lot of fun and probably one of the most easy going people you will find, so it has been really easy to add her to the group. She really does fit right in, and she will be such an asset this transfer. I love her a lot already. and her favorite color is green just so you know. Today is FREEZING the snow and the wind are having a field day, so we are really enjoying today. But no worries because we are doing good.

Well, lets see... we have been teaching some amazing investigators! whew...Kathy has quit smoking completely and no longer has any desire to smoke which is so good! we had a good talk with her Monday about other commandments and I really think she is progressing well. Myles, we just committed him to stop smoking and he has taken some huge steps to do so, he sold his pack and bought a lot of cinammon things to encourage no smoking... AND he finally felt a really strong spirit reading the scriptures because of his actions to do so! I was so proud of him! Lets see, Crystal is trying to get to know the ward and get involved in activities and she is praying on her knees which is a huge step and has continued her reading. We really are blessed and are grateful for the blessings in this area, and hope that it continues progressing.

I love the people here in Canada, they are great! And they really have a lot to offer. I love the gospel, and the book of mormon. I was reading yesterday morning and I was reading about Nephi, he really was commanded to do a lot with the plates, and yet he obeyed, and only wrote things he felt were of great worth and really for our time. I am so grateful for the many people in history who acted upon faith, the commandments, that we can be so blessed through the experiences they had and the knowledge they obtained and shared. I love the gospel with all my heart, and I know that it is so much better to live by the spirit than not, and those "little things" we do; such as prayer and scripture study really make the difference, and really add the spirit for us to be guided. I am grateful for the missionaries who do go out and share, and teach the restored gospel, because it is something everyone needs but they just don't know it yet, but there is a lot of adversity, I like to think if there wasn't opposition the answer that it is true wouldn't have such sweet joy. and we have so much opposition because it is so true. I love you guys so much. Know that I pray for and love each of you, and am grateful for the opportunity I have to serve and know of the great support there is behind me. Keep the faith because there is no other way for us to have all those blessing we desire, and know we must do the little things to add that protective armor around us. I love you all! (cousins, grandparents, aunts, uncles, and friends included!) I know the gospel of Jesus Christ is true and that this is his church which has been restored today!

Love, Sister Lindsey North

New News Letter!

Click on the image to go BIG!
<img style="cursor:pointer; It was so funny beause sister ferguson turns around to me on the ground first fall in cananda. We were laughing so hard, we finally made it to the second the door and knocked on it and there was a lady home so we talked to her and then we left and walking down the sidewalk that goes to the driveway and i slipped again and this time I took sister ferguson with me. I haven't laughed so hard in so long and today i had a huge bruise on my leg that I am going show off at pday activity hehe. It was hilarious we couldn't stop laughing, i was like crying, and i was sure we had made quite impression to the car driving by when it happened. It was entertaining though. Today is a cold day! it is like -33 with windchill but thats all part of the fun.

Oh yah, So me and sister Ferguson had a bonding moment the other day...hehe... we decided to sleep on our balcony. hehe. It was a lot of fun, we took pictures and just laughed. I guess I like my own bed because by the end of the night she was towards the end. We ended up going in at around four. But it was really fun! No worries we are still healthy and it wasn't too cold. But now today is FREEZING so we were lucky to find a mild night. Today is -30's with windchill so I imagine tonight they aren't going to stress knocking doors just going to your appointments you have.

I do love it here, and we are teaching a really intense word of wisdom lesson tonight with some of our investigators Kathy and Rayne. We really have been blessed this week and we are really trying keep things progressing.

And I have gotten mail from the hammers, grandma and grandpa hafen, ashley, and a card about sister missionaries at my apartment, thanks fam! Sister Ferguson and I have done a lot of fun things are really enjoying each others company.

Love, Sister North (Lou)

Happy New Year!

HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE! First of all, I want to tell Linda and Maudi thank you for the present and the great drawing, I hung it up on my wall next to me. And thank you
Grandma and Mitzie for presents too, food is always a nice addition, and the pictures of home made me smile.

I have a good story about the temple this week. At dinner with the Quintons, Mr. Quinton told us that one day there was a man who came and was looking around the temple. President Evanson went out to meet him, and asked if he could help him, he said that he drives by there everyday and everyday he feels something when he passes. They talked for a minute and President Evanson explained a little about the temple. He didn't give his name but I really liked how he could recognize a difference. He also mentioned a muslim guy who comes to visit once in a while here in Regina and he visits the temple when he does and walks around, once again President Evanson went to talk to him and found out that he too could feel God here. He kissed his hand and told him he was a man of God and left. Sometimes I get these small realizations, and this one was how blessed we are to have a temple so close and that so many people here in Regina went through the open house at the temple and saw the beauty and always comment that we are good neighbors, and they are always very gracious about the temple and the members that visit it. Sister Quinton said that every time they are doing baptisms for the dead, there is a different feeling
in there, and also when the missionaries come. And I always take for granted having that temple close by and not always taking full advantage of those blessings. I love the Spirit so much, and it is amazing the difference of having it and and not having it with you really is. There is greater happiness in living the gospel than imaginable. Today I read Alma 39-42 and wow, we have so many answers about questions people ask that don't know where to find them. I am greatful for the gospel in my life. Don't be afraid to have a conversation about one principle of the gospel, and more importantly, don't take for granted to opportunities you have to have that Spirit more abundantly in your life, because it will come if you want it to. I love you all, take care. I am sending a funny story so you are going to have to wait till it gets there... but I think you will like it!

Love, Sister North ... don't worry I am not always so serious here. Yesterday, we went to breakfast, opened presents, talked to our families, went to the Davis's for lunch with all the missionaries, and then went to dinner at a members house (which was really nice), and then back to Davis's for a good game of Phase 10. We love the Davis's; they really take care of us by giving us rides, feeding us, and now we are using their computer because today is boxing day and nothing is open. It is a huge holiday. The Davis's have hard a hard time with the kids and the more we talk to them the more they tell us how it has blessed them, but I am grateful for our family and our many blessings that all of our family is active and have lived worthy of the Spirit. That is the greatest thing we have. I LOVE YOU ALL! Have a great day. Happy New Years, and take care of yourselves.

Love, Sister North

<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_kNRC5YNfmrE/R3PdJpnsd3I/AAAAAAAAATg/3aNvuOfBSPo/s400/sisters.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5148701956875515762" />
Here we are! Here is a little news from the frozen North. Well everything is going good. I am companions with Sister Ferguson from Bountiful, Utah. She and I are working hard to meet those in our path that are prepared for us. I love sharing the gospel and have learned so much from being here. I truly am grateful for my Savior and his infinite atonement for each one of us. I am grateful that he has promised us that if we believe on his name and come unto him, he will welcome us with open arms. What a blessing! I am learning to adapt to the cold, and I still have all my fingers and toes so I feel like I am ahead of the game. I love each one of you and am grateful to have gotten to have your support and love. The gospel is true and I know that we can return back home to our Father in Heaven, and that he knows and loves each one of us so personally. I know that Joseph Smith is a true Prophet of God because of my strong testimony that Book of Mormon is the word of God. And God wouldn't put a true book in the hands of a false prophet as my companion often says. So if we can gain a testimony in that one book that gives us the promise we will get nearer to God by reading it then we should take the challenge and find out for ourselves. I hope you have a Merry Christmas, and that the spirit of Christ will be the center because this is a very special time of year. I hope you have a wonderful new year, and as you reflect on the past year that you will see what great blessings you have received through your obedience. Merry Christmas!

Love, Sister North

Zone Conference Photos

This is my district and zone, and the whole tri-zone conference group together.
Pres. This week has been INCREDIBLE! I have some great news and I want you to know that I am so grateful for your prayers and concern and love! So here we go. We have a baptismal date set! The guys name is Jeff. I don't remember how much I have told you but we have taught him all the lessons and just have the commandments left. So last night we took the Davis's with us because our member cancelled. And so we went over there, and we were talking about pray oft, scripture reading, obedience, and church. So we were talking to him and he was just really listening and I told him my experience of finding out that I was suppose to go on a mission. And he asked the sincerest question: "well how do I know what to read?" Keep in mind he hates reading and he doesn't feel like he understands it when he does. So we talked about different ways we can study. And then I needed to extend a baptismal date for one of my goals and so I was scared to death. So I kind of gave the 'will you...' 'do you think...' 'ummm... would you consider' type of way of getting to it and finally I asked he said he had been as a baby, and I told him it had to be under the right authority like Christ going to John the baptist, and he was like when? Sunday? hehe we were like no, we were thinking more around 29th of December. And he agreed and he was so excited and we told him of our love for him and his great heart. Sister Davis was crying and then he was like you are going to make me cry. But pray with all your hearts that he is ready for this and can stay stronger than the advesary because he needs this in his life. He is a really good guy! So yah but transfers are Christmas day so pray me and Sister Ferguson get to stay in the area with him to see it! So we might just have a white Christmas after all.

Yesterday was incredible because we also had a tri-zone Christmas Devotional where we discussed the living Christ, the purpose of Christmas, and our purpose being out here. The spirit was amazing and I sang 2 songs in the program. Me, Sister Ferguson, and Sister Winchel, and Sister Jenkins sang "Away in a Manger". This was new for me I had never sang parts on my own in front of people. It was a little rough because we had to do it last minute. In the second song I was the only one singing soprano with Sister Ferguson alto, Elder Rupert tenor, and Elder Smiley base. It was pretty good. We sang Far Far Away on Judeas Plains. I really liked how it worked out so it was good. I held my own and I was very scared but it went fine. Elder Smiley was pretty happy with the outcome as well.

So Crystal is also doing really well, she is my neighbor and we went to Costco last week with her and now we are well stocked. She came over the other night and we talked about what is going on as we often do. She needs the gospel and she told us she started reading the Book of Mormon and we watched the Restoration video with her. Things are going good with that. Pray for her too! And also Jim and Dianne come home from BC this week we have been waiting a month for them to come home. They are the one's who we said the Lord's prayer with and discussed the Book of Mormon with her family. Pray that they are still very receptive to hearing the gospel because we want to teach them so badly!

I have to go but I love you all! I love you! and I can't wait to hear everything going on! Take care! I love you. But all is well, the cold just simply means more layers not less work. Oh yah we met two potential investigators tracting last night, it is rare to get that so we have been really blessed here in Cananda! I love you!

Love, Sister North

It is COLD!

Okay here we go. It is cold here! I always have to wear one to two pairs of thermals, tights, socks, boots, 2 pairs of gloves, skirt, shirt, sweater, blazer, coat, scarf, and sometimes ear warmers depending on what we are doing. That is my normal day outfit. If I still feel cold I just add more layers! I have worn like 3 pairs of socks and more. It is good though. I try hard to not be cold but its hard not to since it is always -20 right now at least. And usually it's closer to -30.

We have been getting lunched constantly and then Sunday, we met with a guy named Alijosha, and he wanted to just learn more. He is really open but because he is in is 20's, he goes to YSA so we got to teach him one lesson and then we headed to the broadcast. The Christmas devotional was amazing! There is only one stake here in Regina. So all those that came to the broadcast met at the stake center. There aren't a whole lot of members, but enough. It was a wonderful broadcast. I loved their stories and how they quoted the songs. It really got me excited for the christmas season.

So we have definitely had a better week! We got to teach our neighbor Crystal. We see her everyday and started teaching her Monday. We wanted to have FHE with her, so we went and talked to her on our lunch break and she said that would be fine. We came back from an appointment and found a note that said to come over for dinner at six. She made homemade chili because we were asking her about it. That night we decided to share a message with her, and she had lots of questions. She had obviously been thinking a lot about our church because she just went from one question to the next, so we sat and answered them. She is Roman Catholic, and she has 2 kids. Her boyfriend is kind of the sort that sees the bible as a guideline. It was interesting to talk to her and have his contributions, I guess she rebuked him after we left for trying to give us a hard time. She is so sweet and is always bringing us things, like cake, and oranges, and many different things. She has really become a great friend to us. We watched Joy to the World with her yesterday and in part of it, it talks about the many different prophets and she asked if there was a video about Joseph Smith so we are going to watch the restoration with her and give her a Book of Mormon hopefully today. OH YAH! She is taking us to Costco today! We are so excited!

So they don't have Laughy Taffy's here and Crystal really likes them, Sister Ferguson got some for her birthday... so would you be willing to send a bag here. I guess Canadians are healthier because they don't really have all the junk that Americans put into food like certain sugars so the Oreos taste different. I guess American Oreos are a delicacy for those missionaries that were raised on them. Hehe. We are always comparing foods and talking about things we make. So what I really want is a list of recipes. Like broccoli cheese soup, pumpkin rolls, and any unique American foods.

Okay so here is another good story. We got a flat tire last Wednesday and have been driving on a doughnut for a little bit it is fixed now. When we got the flat, a cop came to see what happened, then our zone leaders showed up so we sat in the cop car with him as he showed us all his neat toys, and the Elders fixed the tire. It was fun for sure! We had a good time and could only go like 50Km on it which is like 30 mph. It was good.

Here's another good one. We went to an investigators home whose living room is up to your knees in clutter so we went over to help her clean. It was disgusting and I was grateful that I am a somewhat clean person (ps my room and everything has been staying really clean, even sonewhat more than Sis. Fergusons). Anyways it was scary and we got a lot done like 3 huge trash bags later. We were there for around 2 hours. There was some white powder on a lid and she was like what is this? Courtney her daughter listed off either pills, doughnut powder, or a mystery substance... she then puts it on her finger and licks it and says "YUP, DOUGHNUT!" Wow. I just about lost it there in laughter. We also go to an archive where we unfold paper. Yes unfold paper. So they can get names off the records and help the people here organize there antique papers and photocopy them.

We have plans for Christmas. The Cruikshanks have invited us over to open presents with them. I am so excited they have 3 little boys and they are so funny! we will also have breakfast with them!

Everything is going well and I hope this answered some of your questions. Oh yeah, I can't put my pictures and any websites because I am only allowed on this one, and the blog won't work because of the university blocks them, so I can't even see it. We are having a tri-zone Christmas devotional next week that I am very excited about! I am working on my Canadian accent, hehe. I go to bed so tired every night! I probably am becoming no fun at nights. Oh well.

We had a nice lesson last night with a recent convert. We had her home teacher there too. Honestly it is vital to have fellowshippers in the ward. If I could encourage anything for members and missionaries, the biggest thing is fellowshipping, letting missionaries teach investigators in your home, go with them to lessons, give rides to those who would need it. It takes a lot more work on our part as missionaries to get the ward involved but honestly it is the most effective way because we aren't going to be here forever and when we are going we want them to remain faithful, and they can through help of the members. It really is crucial. Things are great I love you all so much. Take care and will talk to you soon. December is going to be a great month for us all! Have a great week and work and school! And enjoy the warmth.

Love ya all!
Love Lou, Sister North

Hello!

Ok wow! A lot has been going on! We did see the President this weekend--we love the Morgans! They took us out to lunch and breakfast after the temple today. The Temple is beautiful and the people in it are lovely. Hehe. Ok so lets see, I AM SO EXCITED FOR TAYLOR AND CHELSEY! That’s so exciting! Well if they have a little boy they will win the Iron Mike Contest I think I was out of luck from the beginning on that one! Things are going so good here. So we had our coldest day the other day, -36 degrees! So we were only allowed to go to our set appointments, no tracting. Out of the 5 appointments we had, 4 canceled and the last one was going to cancel but we came a little early so she let us in. Me and Sister Ferguson found a tree in our storage closet full of random things and a lady in the ward gave us Christmas ornaments, so it doesn't look half bad.

This week because of all the lunches (ditches) we have been doing a lot of service in the ward in hopes that they might feel comfortable coming with us to teach and also giving us referrals. We are working the area book and feel we are making progress. We have been slightly discouraged but are really trying to keep a positive attitude about being lunched so much. We just really want to teach! But we are doing good and I really feel like there is good potential in this area. We are just trying to find the ones that really want it!

I was well taken care of on Thanksgiving. The Fishers, Davis's, and Blade's all put together a Thanksgiving for the missionaries. We have adopted Elder and Sister Davis from Orem, UT as like our care givers. They took us for hot chocolate the other day and had us for dinner. They are wonderful! We love them so much! They will be serving their whole mission here in Regina, so I hope to be here long enough to serve with them more. The president said I might be here for a bit which would be wonderful. I love it here.

Today is -21 but who knows with the wind chill that is what really gets. Probably -30's... Thats ok though because I layer lots and everyone just laughs at me. My coat I brought is actually quite wonderful. With the right clothes underneath it, it is quite warm so I haven't bought a new coat just boots which are very nice too. I just have to figure out how to keep my ears and face warm and I’ll be happy!

We will get Christmas off to do whatever we want so we are going to sleep in. Today we were up at 5 am to get the temple, its actually not too bad waking up early, it just catches up with me later and I get tired.

I must be off, but I LOVE ALL YOU! Ashley and Matt, thanks for the Sponge Bob stickers—they are exactly what I wanted! I am going to get some letters off today. Last P-Day was crazy with having to get boots and that type of stuff. Please keep praying for no lunches! Also, packages still go to the mission home address in Winnipeg just so you know! Love ya! Have a great week!

Love, Lou... I got here and I was extremely tired waking up the
first couple of days but it is getting better for sure. We went to our first dinner appointment last night, it was like meat balls, rice, vegetables--a standard dinner. The dessert was this intense chocolate syrupy souffle looking thing. So we are planning on cooking so if you want to send any recipes that we typically made I will give it go. My companion and I are both from Utah she is from Bountiful so we are a lot a like and we like a lot of the same things. President and Sister Morgan are really sweet I looked rough the day I got here (it showed that it had been a long day hehe). Oh well, can't change that but they were very warm and loving the party was fun. We talked and just kind of got to know each other. There are more sisters here than ever before and they are all pretty excited about the sister power it is going to bring. Wow, Stilson got married huh? Wow, that is cool that they have a chance to be happy now. How are Ash and Matt (*editors note* - we are good)? everything good? They are probably busy as usual. Yeah I think that is the way I would choose to go...together. I am so proud of Ash, she is amazing if only I had her help to pass tests I would be feeling pretty good. She can do it. She is pretty much beyond impressive! I am sure she is being kept busy because they recognize she is one of the best, and if they don't yet they will! About Thanksgiving, there are some couple missionaries who are putting on Thanksgiving for us so sweet! I am excited because all the missionaries in our zone are coming. My MTC district got pretty split up so there are only 3 of the 10 in Regina, but it is still better than just me. The other day someone asked us if we were going home for Christmas and I told them no. They looked at us in astonishment and couldn't believe it. It is a price that I am paying right now for the opportunity to be here. He thought we were quite peculiar on that one. I show Kamryn off in the book Ash made me, it has been a good thing to have although I don't have all my pictures it is a good start for sure. Of course she likes you, you are Grandma! That is so sad about Brynlee that makes my mouth hurt, that would be miserable! We have a family of dancers! It is good to have some support and friends so moving will be good for them,hehe. Good ol' bachelor, I didn't have time to call Linda at the airport we were pretty busy but relay the message that I love them! Oh Marlee the little roll of fun, she was already getting a personality so now I am sure its even better, hehe. I would be extremely excited about Maudi's dance recital! It will be so funny! The cabin will probably be small but it will still be good. So I am happy to hear Grandpa is doing a little better, he is such a good guy and I really hope he gets fully recovered. I am praying for him. That is crazy about Michael's call, that is exciting! Hopefully it isn't as cold as it is here. Good ol' pushing the button its important, but always quite intense. That is good he isn't as shy, because it is hard to be a missionary and be shy. In the MTC some of the couples there were on their 6Th missions, I think it is worth it if they continue to come back. We have some very sweet senior missionary couples out here that are really cute.

2408- 79 Cambridge Ave.
Regina Saskatchewan

But remember I am only here 6 weeks for sure, and now it is more like 5. But as of 3 days ago I will have been out of a month. OK, spiritual time - Mom, know that I am protected out here. I don't want you to worry. I have been trying to make my prayers less repetitious and more meaningful. It is a working process, but it is helping so much. Also, I know that there are reasons people are put in our paths. The family I was talking about (Jim and Dianne) we had the wrong address on. We had the cousin's address but she just happened to be there, and we got to teach both families at once. Had we gone to her house that is across the street we wouldn't have found them. I have scripture especially for you. Mosiah 28:5-7. We have a daily morning exercise and at 8 am we have personal study. I can't tell you how much I have been learning. I started at the first and wow, it is amazing how much can be applied to you. I hate when it's over because that is my only time to be by myself to think, study, learn how I can teach others, learn how I can grow personally, and really how I can be strengthened to teach these amazing people. I want people to know how important the gospel is to me, I want them to see the light and want to improve. I want to be perfected through our Savior and really have the chance to be something more than just myself. I love you mom. Today I read 1 Nephi 13 and how it prophesies of both the Book of Mormon and Bible and how they are there to teach and testify of each other that we may have the fullness of the gospel. We are so blessed. I will get to go to the temple next week and I am so excited. I love this gospel, and sharing it. I still feel very weak in myself, but I know the Lord can fill my mouth. I am trying to recognize the Spirit more in my life. If you want to send this to whoever you are welcome to. Just know I am happy and all is well. And most importantly THANK YOU! You helped me so much so that I was prepared to be here both physically (clothes), and spiritually for your example. I will write a letter later. Most emails probably won't be this long. We have a P-Day activity coming up where all the sisters and elders play some kind of activity so it should be fun. I will talk to you next week. I can check the blog so I need the address for next week. THANKS!

Love, Sister North

Here are a few pictures from the MTC:
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_kNRC5YNfmrE/R0bsGqyiQRI/AAAAAAAAARA/OkLNlQdi1BE/s320/scan0001.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5136052024372248850" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_kNRC5YNfmrE/R0bsG6yiQSI/AAAAAAAAARI/WtbEZNvcgbM/s320/scan0002.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5136052028667216162" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_kNRC5YNfmrE/R0bsHKyiQTI/AAAAAAAAARQ/Eqg1IbfGmXo/s320/scan0003.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5136052032962183474" />

First letter from Canada!

Dear everyone!

WELCOME TO CANADA! Well me. I am here. The mission president met us at the
airport and then we sang them O Canada. I am sorry I didn't get to talk to
everyone on the phone but everything is good. IT IS FREEZING (*editor's note: you can see weather conditions on the right side of the screen*)! But I am very
grateful to have my coat. It was perfect and I knew that my mother really loves
me. We went to the mission home and ate an amazing meal. We were starving and
now we are all stuffed. Everything is good and I love this people. We are at the
mission office here and we are going to get our cards, more information, and
meeting substitute moms that greeted us wonderfully. I am ready for this
adventure. All the sisters get to have a sleep over tonight! "But it is not a
party" according to president... But it really will be! We are excited and I
will get to see Sister Allan soon. I have to go have some fun back at the
mission home, but I made it in good shape, and am excited to serve. I will talk you
next week and answer all the unknown questions... like who my companion is because we find tomorrow. I LOVE YOU! Take care... Talk to you next week.

PS - We are in good hands they have been preparing for us to come for quite some time. There are only 6 sisters here, so everyone is a trainer.. awesome!

Love ya, bye!
Love, Lou (Sister North)

November 8th, 2007

Hello hello. Well this week has been pretty eventful. We have been going full
force and have already started the second lesson. We had some very funny things happen this week and some very spiritual things also. It is funny how those two sometimes can go hand in hand. We go to a place called the referral center and talk to all those who call in for the DVDs or bibles or books of mormon and talk to them and encourage them to allow the missionaries to come to their homes to discuss it. We got a lot of referrals as a district and have set some high goals. I have received a ton of support from letters and what not. It has been awesome so thank you. I really know that I have a team rooting for me back home.
We play volleyball every so often and the sand is always freezing so we leave happy from all the laughter but half the time we can't really feel our feet and we just tell ourselves that we are just preparing ourselves for Canada. Hehe. Really optomistic thought. So 10 of us in our district are going to Winnipeg and we are all pretty excited. We are getting worn out from the studies but we are still pushing ahead.
Here is a funny story: So the other night we were all getting ready for bed when the branch president's wife knocked on the door. When I opened it she started coming in, but Sister Burns wasn't ready for company so she climbed in her closet. It was hilarious! So Sister Bailey (the branch president's wife) is meeting us all for the first time and while we are talking well she is like, "where is the other one?" So Sister Winchel (her companion)went to check the bathroom because for some reason I was the only one who knew she was in the closet. She is just watching with everything with the door slightly open, waiting for Sister Bailey to leave. As we are all standing there Sister Winchel comes back and says, "she is in the shower." Sister Bailey then sits down and says, "I'll wait, I really want to meet her." so Sister Burns is trying to get my companion Sister Peterson's attention, and Sister Peterson thinks someone is talking to her like the Holy Ghost and is all freaked out. Meanwhile, Sister Winchel thinks she has lost her companion and suddenly she gets this terrified look on her face. I finally tell Sister Bailey that she has been in the closet the whole time we all laughed hysterically. I think Sister Bailey was a little worried about that one--way to make a first impression! She saw us on Sunday and informed us that she hadn't told anyone, probably because of the embarassing way we acted. It was great.
I must go but I have loved the Spirit here, I love you all. Thank you for everything. This place is amazing. LOVE ALWAYS AND FOREVER!

LOU...Sister North

Farewell and MTC Photos

Hello momma, daddy, and family!

Bonjour,

Well today is our P Day and we have set up our password someone has already used lindsey_north so i guess there was another one previous to. So it is just sisternorth@myldsmail.net. Okay where to begin. Lets start at the first. We got here Wednesday and we were running from one meeting to the next, it was pretty crazy. They got us established and try to make us feel as welcomed as possible. We met our Mission President, President Bailey, He is a very nice guy and concerned with all of us. I was made Coordinating sister. We went to a lot of orientation and got familiar with our surroundings. My companion is sister Peterson, and she is great. We are progressing great, and we both work hard so it makes it all that much better. I love her lots. There were less meetings toward the end of the week because on
Saturday we had the chance to do service and our first gym period. We also taught our first lesson, scary but good. Sunday was very good, I had a lot of meetings because of my calling, and relief society was so good, sister Dalton from YM presidency. She did amazing and you could feel her love for us so strongly. later at the fireside that night we heard from Stephen Allen, a member of the missionary training leadership. He went through Preach My Gospel amazingly, every time we hear a speaker they give us a new challenge so we have been working on those challenges, like memorizing chapter headings, the articles of faith, smiling, praying, and testifying everyday. The progress you can make is amazing. We are striving to better every part of our lives. Tuesday was the most amazing talk! We heard from Elder David A. Bednar, and it was powerful. We were in the choir, and honestly his talk just filled you with the spirit. What an amazing spirit. Here is a spiritual story: Sister Peterson and I were waking up sick in the morning but fine the rest of the day. So we got Priesthood healing blessings Monday and I woke up Tuesday feeling a lot better, however, she was still very sick. I was worried about her, so I took her in a room and a began a fast in her behalf. We went about our normal routine, and we taught our first investigator lesson in the TRC. Then we had that devotional (with Elder Bednar) that night. The next day we woke up and we were both healed. I know that the power of fasting is real. Thank you dad for your letter, I received it at lunchtime where I read that part to Sister Peterson to show her where I had received my testimony of fasting. I know that it worked and that the Lord healed her. I was so excited! Yesterday we changed our outline of the first lesson again (this is like number 5) to add more questions to help the investigator with understanding. It was powerful I felt the spirit so strong and I know the others did too. It was amazing. We played volleyball at gym as a district it was awesome. I still have my serve and they seemed to be impressed! It was one of our best days here--we were laughing, and having fun as a district in volleyball. The other two sisters are so fun, Sister Burns and Sister Winchel both have cool stories why they are here. I will have to tell you about them later. And now today is Thursday and we are trying to be obedient so that we can have the Spirit with us, so that we might be touch the people we talk to at the referral center; this will be our first time there! I am excited about all that have been learning. Thank you for your love and support. I have received many packages and letters. Thank you! I love you so much. You are all so important to me. I testify that this church is true and that our Heavenly Father knows our needs and will answer our prayers if we ask. We have been praying constantly and testifying just the same. The Spirit can honestly be a constant companion. I love you so much! Take care and I will be sending a letter too. With all my love. There were so many friends and family there to support Lindsey on her big day! She spoke for 35 minutes...and if my mom wouldn't have been giving her the cut signal I'm pretty sure she would have taken the entire meeting! Lindsey is so excited about the gospel and she has taken every opportunity to share it! I always knew that she would make a great missionary, but I was blown away by her testimony and her love of the scriptures. I also had the opportunity along with my parents to say goodbye to Lindsey at the MTC in Provo. I have now officially dropped off all of my siblings at the MTC...wow! It was a lot harder than I thought it would be! I was so excited for Lindsey that I didn't want to be sad. Suffice it to say, I cried like a baby. Anyways, I am really proud of Lindsey and I know she will touch many lives in Winnipeg, Canada! Matt and I will be updating a blog for Lindsey while she is gone, so that everyone can read her letters and see her pictures.

New Blog!

So Ashley and I had this idea that instead of trying to forward Lindsey's letters and news to everyone and risk people getting left out, we would set up a blog so that we could post her letters, photos, and other exciting news!
